A roof lantern is a raised, pitched glazed roof that sits on a flat roof upstand. It floods the room below with daylight from above and adds height, which is why it’s a favourite for kitchen extensions and orangeries.
Stock sizes are 1.0 × 1.0 m, 1.5 × 1.0 m, 2.0 × 1.0 m, 2.0 × 1.5 m and 3.0 × 1.5 m. Bespoke lanterns can be from 800 mm to 4,000 mm long and 800 mm to 2,500 mm wide. Lantern sizes normally refer to the upstand or kerb the lantern sits on, so confirm with your builder which dimension they’re building to before you order.
Choose the frame colour and glass: double glazed clear (Low-E), self-cleaning double, solar control double or triple glazed. Solar control glass is worth considering on south-facing roofs.

Glazing Counter supplies products for your own builder or installer to fit. We don’t survey or install. That keeps the price down and lets you use a fitter you trust, but it also means the sizes you order are your responsibility. Have your installer confirm the structural opening before you order, especially for made-to-measure products, which can’t be returned unless faulty (see returns).
We deliver to UK mainland addresses, quoted separately by postcode. Delivery is to the kerbside or nearest accessible ground-floor point, and someone aged 18 or over needs to be there to check the goods. Large glazed frames are heavy, so have help on hand to unload. Please inspect everything and report any damage within 48 hours, before installation.
Lanterns are sized to the upstand or kerb on your flat roof. Confirm the external upstand dimensions with your builder before ordering.
